Frequently asked questions

What levels of user access are available?

  • Read-only: A user can view defect records but does not have any ability to add or modify data. Typically, flight crew would have read-only access.
  • Read-write: Typically, AMTs have read-write access, which allows them to create and update new defect records.
  • Engineering Admin: This level of user has full access to the system, can add/update defect records, add new aircraft, archive aircraft, move components from one aircraft to another, add users, and control their access. Typically, engineers in the structures department have this level of access.

Can I have reports configured to suit my operation?

Yes, part of the system implementation is configuring the reports to ensure that headers/footers are acceptable and that the data fields displayed for each defect record correspond with the customer’s requirements.

Can Dent & Buckle identify multiple damage locations in a single defect record?

Yes, we have functionality that allows multiple defect locations on a component to be associated with a single defect record. A good example is a lightning strike with multiple entry/exit locations.

Can I manage defects on components when off-wing?

Yes, you can. The process is the same as when components are installed on the aircraft.

How does Dent & Buckle handle defects on rotable components?

All defect records are associated with a component (e.g., an engine cowl lip). Wherever this component is moved to, be it another aircraft or into a “stores” area, the associated defect records will move with that component.
